I had a mixed experience at The City Hotel. The location is great since it's near metro stations, making it easy to get around Istanbul. However, the breakfast left much to be desired, and I was disappointed with the overall facilities and room condition.
Rooms
5.0
The rooms were small and not well-maintained, with dusty carpets and insufficient bathroom supplies. I had even requested a honeymoon suite, but ended up with a cramped room with twin beds. It felt more like a budget stay than a 4-star one.
Service
5.0
While the reception staff was friendly and responsive, especially Melek, the service could be inconsistent. They were helpful with changing rooms due to noise issues, but the overall attentiveness was lacking during requests.
Location
5.0
The hotel is situated close to transport links, but the neighborhood felt sketchy, especially at night. I wasn't comfortable walking around after dark due to the atmosphere.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast was quite poor, lacking variety and hardly resembling a traditional Turkish breakfast. It was disappointing to see limited choices every day, making it feel monotonous.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities were below average for a supposed 4-star hotel. There was no iron in the room, the Wi-Fi was frustratingly unreliable, and basic amenities seemed lacking, which made for an underwhelming experience.

I had a mixed experience at The City Hotel. While it was conveniently located and the staff, especially the manager and housekeeping, were incredibly helpful, I was really disappointed by the cleanliness and breakfast options. The facilities felt outdated, which didn't match a four-star expectation at all.
Rooms
5.0
My room was clean, but the overall building felt quite old and needed refurbishment. I had a sea view room change which was much appreciated.
Service
7.0
The staff were friendly and responsive, especially Melek at the reception who quickly arranged a quieter room for me. The housekeeping was prompt and courteous too.
Location
6.0
The location is really good, close to tram and metro stops, which made getting around the city easy. However, I felt like the neighborhood was a bit sketchy.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was below average with very limited options. They served some cooked eggs, but overall, it didn't resemble a typical Turkish breakfast at all.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel offered basic amenities, but I found the room service limited and the reported fitness center was nonexistent, which was frustrating.

6.8/10
My stay at The City Hotel in Istanbul had its ups and downs. The hotel's location is convenient for accessing transport, but the area felt a bit run-down and sketchy at night. The staff was friendly and accommodating, especially Melek at the front desk, who helped with room issues. However, the room itself left much to be desired with cleanliness issues and inadequate amenities. Overall, it wasn't the worst experience, but I wouldn't rate it as a true 4-star hotel.
Rooms
5.0
The room I had was cramped and not very clean. There was only a bottom sheet on the bed instead of two, which was a bit unusual. Plus, I struggled with limited space and the walls were paper-thin, making it hard to rest.
Service
5.0
Service had its highlights with friendly staff like Melek and Roushdia who were eager to help. However, I encountered some unresponsive staff during my stay, especially when I needed assistance with issues.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location is near metro and tram lines, which is great for getting around. But, I didn't feel safe walking outside in the evenings since the area seemed quite decrepit and busy with unsavory characters.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were quite limited, and the breakfast was lacking in variety, served the same each day. I was disappointed that there were only powdered juices and no fresh coffee. It felt underwhelming considering the expectations.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities like Wi-Fi were unreliable, cutting off frequently, which was frustrating. On top of that, there was only one broken iron for the entire hotel, making it tough for guests needing to press clothes.

I found my stay at The City Hotel quite disappointing overall. The location was convenient because it was close to the Yenikapi metro station, but the surrounding area felt unsafe, especially at night with many unsavory characters around. The staff were friendly and helpful, which was a bright spot, but the small and outdated room, combined with the poor breakfast options, left much to be desired.
Rooms

The room was cramped and had two small twin beds instead of the requested honeymoon suite. It was also not well-maintained, with dusty carpets and a shower door that wouldn't close properly.

While the reception staff were nice and attentive, I was frustrated by the lack of services like room service at night and the inadequate response to my needs during my stay, especially regarding the meeting room setup.
Location

The hotel is conveniently located near public transport, but the neighborhood felt dirty and creepy, which made me uncomfortable going outside after dark.

Breakfast was very limited with few choices and lacked the quality I was expecting. There were no fresh juices or fruit, just a couple of cheese and ham options.

On the other hand, the rooms were smaller than I expected, and some facilities were lacking. The location was decent for transport access but not so great in terms of the surrounding area.
